Building Muscle Mass while eating normal?
I am 6'3 about 195lbs and am already a big eater. I normally eat a good amount per day and was wondering if I will be able to gain a good amount of muscle mass while continuing to eat the same and probably adding in some more protein through either shakes or bars or more eggs?
I will be doing the Rippetoe's workout which is a 3 day workout that consists of squats, bench presses, deadlifts, military press, and pendlay rows (Suppose to do dips and chinups too but I don't really have the equipment to do so at this point).
I just basically want to build up some muscle mass with no real time constraint. I want to start working out as a hobby and keep the 3 day routine as a normal part of my life. I don't want to go to any extremes and take a bunch of supplements or anything like that. Is this do-able just eating a good amount and adding in some protein? Keep in mind my goal isn't to lose weight or anything.
You'll probably gain some, but you may see some limits without supplements. To see real Muscle Gains, you need to take at least 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight per day, at least. 1.5 to 2 grams is optimal. This is very hard to do without supplementary protein sources. If you can get that amount without supplements, more power to ya! However, most protein powders contain many other things that will help, such as vitamins and aminos.
If nothing else, get a decent multivitamin/mineral.
