I've had a terrible fracture and have been bed ridden for two months. Can swimming build back muscle?

Is it safe to swim if My Muscle Mass is extremely low in one leg? In theory, you'd think it would build muscle faster but keep in mind I can't walk without a boot. Can anyone help me out???

Swimming should be safe if there are no openings in the skin (like pins). Check with our Ortho for specific guidelines. As for the muscle mass, that will come back rapidly when you start to wqalk without the boot. The suggestion that you do isometric exercises is a good one. And sometimes physical therapy can stimulate the muscles (electirc stimulation) so that they will contract. That's a form of isometric contraction. But the main thing is to be patient. Leg muscles grow rapidly when you start exercising them.
